APC Caucus: Ngige’s APC Appearance Sparks Talk of Immunity Gambit

Controversy erupted in Abuja on Thursday after former Anambra State Governor and ex–Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, resurfaced at the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting just hours after regaining his freedom from detention—fueling speculation that his sudden political move may be driven by a quest for protection and possible immunity.

Ngige had earlier been released from the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he was remanded over corruption charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. He secured bail after reportedly meeting all conditions set by the court, but his rapid transition from custody to a high-powered political meeting has raised eyebrows nationwide.

The former governor arrived at the State House Conference Centre shortly after the President had taken his seat. His presence initially unsettled security operatives, who briefly stopped him before allowing him access to the caucus meeting dominated by top party figures.
