We Were Taken To Abuja For A Meeting Then We Saw Fubara, Almost All The Members Walked Out- George

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Enemi George, the spokesperson of the Rivers State House of Assembly, recounted a tense moment involving lawmakers and the state’s executive authority.

George explained that members of the House were invited to Abuja for what was presented as a crucial meeting aimed at addressing disagreements between the legislature and the executive arm of government.

According to him, the lawmakers arrived with expectations of a neutral and transparent engagement that would help resolve outstanding issues.

He stated, “When we were taken to Abuja for a meeting, we were surprised. They opened the door, and the people from the presidency were there. Then we saw Fubara. Almost all the members got angry and walked out.”

George said the presence of officials linked to the presidency, alongside Siminalayi Fubara, came as a shock to many members of the Assembly.

He noted that the development immediately changed the atmosphere of the gathering and heightened tensions among the legislators.

According to George, the lawmakers interpreted the situation as a lack of respect for the Assembly’s independence and an attempt to ambush them politically rather than engage in sincere dialogue.
